Qualcomm’s XR Platform Enhances The Development Of AR And VR

Qualcomm recently made the Snapdragon Spaces XR available for download as it continues to lead the way in the development of extended reality (XR).

The growth in the field of XR has increased the pace of adoption of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and others. Many industries are now pushing for alternative reality to enhance their operations and inform their users.

For emphasis, extended reality (XR) encompasses other facts developed for machine learning. Due to machine learning and sensors’ amount of computer power, XR developers are still trying to fit the computing capacity into a portable headset.

Qualcomm Kickstart Snapdragon Development

The company created the Snapdragon Spaces Pathfinder project to accelerate the development of the Snapdragon Spaces. However, project financing, hardware development, and marketing – are all identified as part of the new project.

Augmented reality is at the center of the new development as it is that part of the computer that generates a make-believe image of the physical world. As a result, AR technology is increasingly becoming relevant in several industries as they attempt to boost their operations.

The use of AR technology provides users with the means to engage with their surroundings intuitively. It applies in the hospital during the surgery, on the battlefield for soldiers to understand the enemy’s terrains, and in education for interactive classes.

Opening Up the AR/VR Ecosystem

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Spaces XR is the latest development from the Qualcomm dev team. The Snapdragon Spaces is an intelligent glass lens that works with smartphones to deliver lively Android applications into the physical world.

Users can surf the web, stream videos, and even type word documents without a desktop or laptop computer via the Snapdragon Spaces XR.

Since the project is capital intensive, the company estimated the project’s average cost to be between $15,000 to $50,000. Individuals and firms can apply for grants; all intellectual property developed using the project funds belongs to them.

Funding Available for the Snapdragon Spaces Pathfinder Project

In the present arrangement, the Qualcomm XR Enterprise project permits users in the Snapdragon Spaces Pathfinder to manage the enterprise-related apps. In this case, the enterprise apps cater to the company’s needs rather than individual users.

However, manufacturers are likely to face some issues with the XR headset. This can be poor audio or visual quality, making user interaction difficult.

Moreover, the company aims to use the multi-dimensional processing protocol for AR applications to curb any further issues.

As machine learning continues to be widely adopted, manufacturers of the XR headset will continue to work toward developing the perfect fit.

This ensures that the computing capacity is utilized to achieve maximum efficiency. XR headset makers need to find ways to address the limitations of the current case use.

It will be interesting to see how the latest Qualcomm developer project will push the program forward. The current hurdle needs to be overcome. Hopefully, the newest project will be the answer.
