Musk To Launch A Human-Robot Prototype Powered By Tesla’s AI

The famous billionaire Elon Musk has been in the news recently. His company, SpaceX, has attained a giant stride with its Starlink internet constellation. It has secured over one million customers in about 32 countries.

Also, the entrepreneur recently referred to Tesla’s new factories as “money furnaces.” This is due to the disruptions in the supply chain and issues with battery-cell production.

Despite the challenges, Elon Musk-owned Tesla works as a human-robot (humanoid). The CEO announced this last year in August at its Tesla AI day.

The AI powering Tesla’s vehicles will also power the human robot called Optimus. According to Musk, the prototype for the robot will be ready by September.

The company had to postpone its AI day till the 30th of September. This is to allow more time for the production of Optimus. Meanwhile, the Optimus launch would be the first of its kind.

According to statistics, China and Japan are world leaders in artificial intelligence. However, this upcoming Optimus is promising and might change the tides.

According to Tesla, the Optimus robot’s average height will be over eight feet tall. Also, it would take after the human form in various ways.

Additionally, Elon Musk said this robot would handle human duties. The humanoid will handle all monotonous, tedious, and unsafe tasks. As a result, people would have time to engage in other scientific and artistic activities.

Capabilities Of Tesla’s Human-Like Robot

Meanwhile, anthropologists noted that the human shape does not allow us to handle demanding tasks. This is why robots made for work purposes are made differently today. They rarely look like humans.

While speaking about Optimus in 2021, Musk noted that:

“Optimus can do anything humans find hard to do. As the robot develops, we should ensure it remains safe. From our work, we hope to start producing version one in 2022.:

According to Musk, the prototypes for Optimus will be available before the end of this year. However, creating different models meant for sale would begin in 2023.

Interestingly, some reports say the well-developed Optimus would be adaptive. That means it can change depending on the personality of the owner.

Users could transfer personality traits to it and influence its action. While speaking with the CEO of Business Insider, Musk stated that:

“We are developing a world where people can communicate with humanoids. They human-like robots would have ten fingers and two arms. Therefore, it is important to make an all round human-like robots if it must handle human tasks.”

The Optimus would be a human-computer that can move and handle tasks. On its face, there would be a screen. This would display the information that the owner needs.

Furthermore, they can physically lift loads of between 45 pounds to 150 pounds. Unfortunately, its speed would be extremely slow at five mph.

While this is a welcome development, there have been criticisms. Many fear these robots would do more harm than good to the human race. However, Musk has dismissed such fears citing the humanoid would be safe and secure.
