Once both companies launch the platform, it will allow large companies across several industries to provide valuable innovative solutions to users.

These enterprises include those in the automotive and manufacturing sectors. Airtel’s edge service will be launched as a hybrid platform using IBM’s Red Hat OpenShift® and Cloud Satellite.

As a result, the platform will extend open and secure cloud service across distant locations. This will reduce the issue of latency while solving the problem of sovereignty requirements and data security.

Consequently, this will help to implement user experience and business performance. When paired with 5G, the commercial value given by edge computing can be increased.

Meanwhile, India plans to launch 5G service later in the year. Hence, this technology has the capacity to generate a $1 trillion economic effect by 2035.

Maruti Suzuki To Use Edge Platform To Increase Productivity

Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, CEO of Airtel Business, said this is a great chance to help firms transform their product and service offerings. Lakshminarayanan said the company has the largest edge data facilities in India.

Also, it would collaborate with IBM to allow Indian firms to handle important business needs more efficiently. This will allow them to access data from any location and execute other tasks.

Furthermore, India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, will use the platform to improve the efficiency and accuracy of quality checks on the production floor. Also, Suzuki hopes to improve quality checks and safeguard data security at the edge by implementing this platform.

Organizations can launch and manage operations in near-real time using Airtel’s 5G connection and IBM’s high security edge computational power. High availability, improved connection speeds, and reduced latency will benefit industries such as healthcare, government, financial services, and telecommunications.

Howard Boville, Leader of IBM Cloud Platform, said that partnering with Airtel to launch a hybrid cloud service in India is a huge step. It will allow edge cloud users to embrace the potential of 5G, such as greater security and speed.
