It is worthy to say that Hyundai purchased Boston Dynamics in 2021. Both entities would join forces to manage the facility. Also, Marc Raibert, the creator of Boston Dynamics, will serve as its director.

As per the institute’s sec filing, the $424M will be divided across Hyundai’s car affiliates. Hyundai will spend about $211.9 million, Hyundai Mobis, $84.7 million, and Kia will provide $127.1 million.

According to the company’s report, the center will focus on solving challenging and critical difficulties in producing sophisticated robotics. As a result, it would hire top talents in the field of robotics, computers, engineering, AI, and machine learning.

Also, the company said it would cite the center in the midst of Cambridge’s Kendall Square research neighborhood. This would help to attract several talents to the area.

Furthermore, the center aspires to merge the best elements of business development laboratories with those of academic research labs in four key technical areas: cognitive AI, ethical and policy, organic hardware design, and athletic AI.

Center To Produce Reliable And Safe Robots

According to Raibert, the center would produce robots that are convenient to use, safe, more productive, and capable of performing more tasks. Another benefit is that they would be able to coexist with humans.

Meanwhile, the group had hinted about the recent development when it said it would undertake various investments in America. The company has pledged over $5 billion for intense research in the area of AI, robotics, autonomous driving, and advanced air mobility.

Additionally, it would build a battery and car production site outside of Savannah, Georgia. However, the company would not limit its investment to America only.

To hasten the development of self-driving tech and what it refers to as “Software Defined Vehicles,” it has also unveiled intentions to open a Global Software Institute in South Korea.

Hyundai will build this facility on the foundation of 42dot, a firm that produces driving software and a mobility system. Hyundai Motor Group recently bought the company for about $211.1 million.
